Skydive Plettenberg Bay
Experience free fall over one of the most scenic drop zones in the world, accompanied by a tandem master and reaching a velocity of 200 km/h from 10,000 feet up! What an adrenalin rush!

Just over an hours drive from Knysna to Tsitsikamma where you can enjoy swinging through the trees. Enjoy a walk through the village of Tsitsikamma and stop off at Marilyn's 60's Diner for a great hamburger and milkshake or visit the Tsitsikamma Micro Brewery..
Kayak & Lilo Adventure:
This award winning adventure combines the best of Tsitsikamma in one activity: Kayak under the suspension bridge and up the glorious Storms River Gorge. Plett Puzzle Park
Interactive fun for the whole family! The two main activities are the first life size 3D Maze in South Africa as well as an exciting and unique Forest Puzzle Walk. Activities are designed for visitors of all ages not only to exercise bodies but also minds in an entertaining, educational and affordable way. Look out for the turning to Jukani.
Hog Hollow Horse Trails
Experience the Tsitsikamma on horseback. Choose between a one hour farm trail with views over the mountains and forest, a two hour forest trail with wildlife, or a three hour Cruise The Crags Trail, riding on horse- back to attractions in the area.
Knysna Forest and River Tours:
Do you enjoy mountain bike riding or canoeing? Knysna Forest and River Tours are the people to contact. For those who don't know, SUP means Stand Up Paddle. This fast growing sport is becoming increasingly popular and it is awesome, easy, fun, safe, learn in 5 minutes and Tony Cook is the chap to contact.


Birds of Eden:

Birds of Eden's unique two hectare dome (the world's largest) spans over a gorge of indigenous forest. Currently it is home to over 3,500 birds from over 220 species, with the main focus being African birds. See the local Knysna Loerie (Turaco) in all its glory!
Knysna Elephant Park:
Visitors to the park are privileged to have a personal encounter with the gentle giants, and leave having gained a new-found respect for the animals, as well as a better understanding of the African elephant and its plight across the continent. Guests staying at Hide Away Guest House get a 10% discount when visiting the Park.
Highgate Ostrich Farm - Oudtshoorn:
Experience the world's largest bird, the ostrich, which lays the largest egg, has the most beautiful feathers and eyes that make you want to fall in love & hug them. A 90 minute drive from Knysna. A suggested itinerary - Cango Caves, Ostrich Farm and Mossel Bay will keep you occupied for a full day.
Safari Ostrich Farm - Oudtshoorn:
Safari Ostrich Farm is a working ostrich farm in Oudtshoorn, Garden Route, South Africa. Established in 1956 as a tourist activity you can see our ostriches up close on one of our tours! Oudsthoorn is approx. a 90 minute drive from Knysna. A suggested itinerary - Cango Caves, Ostrich Farm and Mossel Bay will keep you occupied for a full day.
Jukani Wildlife Sanctuary - The Crags:
At Jukani the main focus is on conservation education and specifically the plight of large predators in captivity in SA and all over the world. Siberian and Bengal tigers are some of the big cats you will see as you walk around the Sanctuary.
Lawnwood Snake Sanctuary - The Crags:
Experience a one hour guided tour consisting of an indigenous snake pit, various outdoor exhibits, a large dome housing South African and exotic snakes, followed by enormous pythons, monitor lizards and crocodiles
Monkeyland Primate Sanctuary - The Crags:
Monkeyland is the worlds first free roaming multi-specie primate sanctuary. Eco-tourism child friendly activity, educating visitors on wildlife conservation.
Tenikwa grew from humble beginnings in 2002 when the owners started rehabilitating injured birds in a wooded shed behind their house. Today it is one of the largest active wildlife rehabilitation centres in the Western Cape, attending to a diverse variety of animals accepting both terrestrial and marine species.

A Township Tour of Knysna - we have sent many guests on tour with Penny & Ella and they have all come back having had a super trip, with loads of information and possibly a different outlook on what township life is about here in South Africa.
Wandu Tours
MaWande is a well-known character in Knysna and his restaurant in the township is an interesting experience. He has developed his small subsidised government home into a three-bedroom house with the restaurant on the first floor.

The Motorcycle Room
The Motorcycle Room is all about great memories about the bikes we had and rode growing up, bikes you've not seen in years and the bikes you miss. This is a great activity when the weather is poor. Spend a few hours browsing around followed by a great cup of coffee at Ile de Pain
Garden Route Trail Park:
The Garden Route Trail Park is nestled at the very foot of the Outeniqua Mountains and the Karatara River Gorge, midway between George and Knysna, in the heart of the Garden Route. Bring the whole family to experience the magic. The carefully designed routes have been laid out to provide riders of all levels with an over-supply of adrenalin, excitement, scenery and amazing views. Over 20km of hand built singletrack in the infamous farmer tradition, with flowing turns, burms, rollers and river crossings.
Knysna Hike & Bike:
Knysna Hike & Bike is the one-stop solution for Leisure & Pleasure seekers in the Garden Route. Quad bike enthusiasts, adrenalin junkies and nature lovers can enjoy the guided Quad Bike trails in the Knysna Forest, Garden route.


Walk on Brenton beach:
Enjoy a walk on the beach between Brenton-on-Sea and Buffalo Bay. Beautiful, unspoilt beach where you can experience the most amazing sunsets whilst having a cocktail at Blu, a restaurant overlooking the ocean. Just fantastic!
Featherbed Company:
A ferry ride across the Lagoon is a great way to see the Knysna Heads and visit the Featherbed Nature Reserve. The Reserve reopened on 1st November 2018 after the terrible fires experienced in June 2017 and which had a major impact on the reserve. The Featherbed Company has many boating options from which to choose.

The Knysna Heads:
The Knysna Heads - go for a walk along the Heads and see the panoramic views of the town and lagoon. On the way there or back, take a detour into the Industrial part of Knysna and visit the Headquarters of Hope whose main objective is to provide support to and sustain two skills development centres one of which make some beautiful hand crafted birds - Feathers of Knysna. Lunch or a coffee and cake at the East Head Café is also a must!

Knysna Timber Village:
The sanctuary of Timber Village belies an inner energy which manifests in the proliferation of wooden masterpieces and woodcraft, hand-crafted with the tangible passion for wood. Are you perhaps looking for a beautiful piece of indigenous wood to take home with you - then a visit to the Village is a must.
Robberg Peninsula - Plettenberg Bay:
The three trails on offer range in time from a 30-minute stroll to a four-hour hike. All offer fantastic views, brisk sea air and sightings of the birds of the peninsula. You may be lucky enough to spot some whales passing by in the whaling season.
Tsitsikamma National Park/Storms River:
Spend a full day visiting the National Park and Storms River. It takes approx. 1 hour to get there from Knysna depending on traffic. It is well worth the time taken. There are some amazing walks once you enter the National Park and you must cross the suspension bridge across the Storms River. Tsitsikamma sees the start of the well-known Otter Trail on the Garden Route - a 5 day walking trail.


Plett Wine Tours

These tours offer an educational tour for the enthusiast with an interest in viticulture and the step-by-step process of creating wine, to the lover of wine who enjoys wine tastings, good friends and unparalleled scenic beauty. The Plett Winelands are a must-visit as another alternative to the tried and tested routes of Franschhoek and Stellenbosch.

Wild Oats Market - Sedgefield:
A visit to this market is a must on a Saturday morning. Sample the local fresh produce as well as checking out the arts and crafts from the local crafters. Wonderful atmosphere with local residents and visitors to the Greater Knysna area.


Cango Caves - Oudtshoorn:
Ecologically significant and impressively beautiful are the Cango Caves - Africa's largest show caves and one of the Seven Wonders of Southern Africa. They are the archaeological and historical highlight of the Klein Karoo - approx. 90 minute drive from Knysna
Radical Raptors - Knysna:
Visit Radical Raptors - a birds of prey rehabilitation and awareness centre. Flying displays: a variety of trained non-releasable birds of prey are free flown around and gives you the opportunity to spectate, participate and photograph these magnificent birds in natural surroundings. There is opportunity to hold some of the birds during the display. Gloves are provided for this purpose.

Spring Tide Charters offers luxury chartered sailing trips aboard a private yacht. Sail from the Knysna Lagoon, through the Knysna Heads into the Indian Ocean. The afternoon sunset cruise is highly recommended!
Whale and Dolphin Watching - Knysna:
Knysna is one of South Africa's best whale watching destinations, and the ocean adjacent to its sweeping coastline is abounding with whale activity during winter and spring. Many other extraordinary marine species are seen here throughout the year. Ocean Odyssey, Knysna's only permitted close encounter whale watching operation, skilfully showcases these sentient animals during their whale watching tours.

Go Now and Discover Knysna
The bicycles are self-powered, pedal assist, 5 level setting and has battery power for approx. 4 hours. Not suitable for children under the age of 12. Take a cycle up to Knysna Heads view point and have some refreshment at the East Head Café for the return trip!
