We were extremely fortunate that our beautiful home escaped the horrendous fire experienced in the town on June 7th 2017. We did not come away completely unscathed as a number of our lovely indigenous trees were destroyed to the extent that they had to be cut down and the conifers in our parking area were almost completely burnt – so we are not as “hidden away” as previously. It will take time for the new plants and trees to grow.
Whether you are a leisure, business or bleisure traveller, on arrival you will be surprised by either a hot or cold towel service and offered what we are sure will be a welcome cup of tea, coffee, glass of wine or a cold beer. Sit and relax for a few minutes and get to know your hosts, Cecil & Colleen. You will be introduced to all that Knysna and the surrounding areas have to offer. If you are needing any reservations to be made for either activities or restaurants, these will be dealt with quickly and efficiently. Then it’s off to your room to unpack and relax.
For the business traveller – and all other visitors to Hide Away – our complimentary high speed and uncapped fibre WiFi offering is available in all areas. The contents of the mini-bar in each room are refilled on a daily basis, as are the complimentary tea/coffee tray offerings. Use of the gym is available for all guests and is well equipped for most workouts.
The Bed and Breakfast (B&B), located on the main road into Knysna from George, is approx. 1.5 kms from the centre of town, the Knysna waterfront and the ever increasing popular Thesen Island. An approximate 20 minute walk to the waterfront before dinner is a great way to stretch your legs after a long journey. There is an excellent taxi service (no Uber) in town so if you don’t fancy the walk back after a leisurely dinner, the restaurants are more than happy to arrange transport for you.
With numerous restaurants and coffee shops in the area – see our Restaurant Page – you will be spoilt for choice and this after enjoying an excellent breakfast every morning prepared by Cecil. Guests are requested to fill in their breakfast menu the night before to ensure a freshly prepared meal will be ready for them in the morning! You will note that our menu caters for most dietary requirements.
We regret no children under 12 and no pets are permitted. We are a LGBT friendly establishment.
Welcome to your home-away-from-home whilst travelling along the well-known Garden Route! We hope that you plan to stay with us at least 3 nights in order to make the best of everything.
